The Heartland Crew shot scenes in Mascot for the Heartland Christmas Special called "Christmas Furlough" on Tuesday.

The holiday special is set in December of 1941 and tells the story of a soldier home on furlough the week of the Pearl Harbor Attack who must return to duty early.

This production is something new of the Heartland crew. "In the 26 years we've been doing the Heartland series we never had the opportunity to do an hour long drama, so this year that's what we are going to attempt," said Heartland Producer Steve Dean.

The production also offers something new for Bill Landry. Landry is leaving his narrating role behind for the Christmas Specials and is taking on a very interesting character. The special will air on Wednesday December 15 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on WBIR.
